232 Strängar are two young musicians from southern Sweden who have created their own sound based on contemporary Swedish folk music. Frida Höfling and Emma Engström play fiddle and piano - two instruments which together have 232 strings, hence the name. (Watch out for the occasional cowhorn moment too!)

In 2016, the duo released their first album Spunnet, which was well received by critics and was nominated as best folk album at the prestigious Manifest Gala. Much of the duo's music is created during improvisation, and free playing is also a leading element when they perform before an audience. Truly lovely music and performance and also not just for concert; we can look at dance and workshops too...

Starting point for Emma and Frida is the mood of Nordic folk music with its beautiful waltzes, swinging schottisches and melancholy polskas. But they also derive inspiration from other music worlds to tell their stories. A light and poignantly beautiful music!
