Europe

Cisco Bellotti (voice, bodhrŕn), Giovanni Rubbiani (guitar) and Alberto Cottica (accordion, piano) used to be the core of iconic Italian folk band Modena City Ramblers, back in the 1990s. They provided new anthems to a country that was embracing rapid political and social change, as a new generation fought to dispense with the old ways of corrupt politics. They have since moved on to other projects, both musical and not musical.

Cisco, Giovanni and Alberto are back together with a new album, the first they record together in 17 years. It is ironically titled I Dinosauri ("because that's the way we feel: ancient, gray, outmoded, but with deep roots and sharp fangs"), with a wink to Italo Calvino's short story of the same title.

And the album due out in 2016
I Dinosauri is a primeval, barebones album. It is completely acoustic, relying mostly on Cisco's voice and Giovanni and Alberto's instruments and on occasional insert by the other ex-Modena City Ramblers Massimo Giuntini (uilčann pipes, bouzouki) and Arcangelo "Kaba" Cavazzuti. It is due for release in October 2016 by Universal Music Italy. Cisco, Giovanni and Alberto will be on tour in 2017.
