At Frusion as you probably know by now we love bringing great artists into the UK from all corners of the planet and here is a world class artist we encourage you to ask about....
Accordion virtuoso Renato Borghetti from Rio Grande do Sul in Southern Brazil. A charismatic gaucho yes that's right Renato actually lives the life of a Gaucho (and dresses as one onstage) has revised, adapted and modernized many of the native sounds of Brazil. Fast, playful tunes combining the sounds of the Argentinian pampas with central European, Italian and French elements form a sparkling, contemporary mixt of Tango, Polka, TexMex and Musette. Not afraid to move away from more typical forms of the wide spectrum of Brazilian and global pop, samba, jazz, tango and beyond, adapting each of those forms to his unique style of accordion playing. And in spite of all experiments he remains 100% gaucho - with long hair, hat and wide trousers.
"Borghettinho", as his fans like to call him, has been recording for 20 years. Having shared stages with Stephane Grapelli, Ron Carter and Hermeto Pascoal and is the first Brazilian musician to achieve a gold album with purely instrumental music.
Working as a four piece and six piece .. touring occasionally in Europe its wise to ask about this extraordinary musician.
Frusion is covering the UK in association with Sabina Schebrak of Cultureworks Vienna.
