Almasäla is the new band formed by Paloma Povedano, formerly with Ojos de Brujo and quite quite magnificent
Since the end of the 90's various cultures have been merging in the streets of Barcelona. A new style of music emerged from this period, influenced by human and melodic encounters between Latin America, North Africa and Southern Europe.
Paloma has a flamenco background, of singing and dance, born in Andalucia. This is how she ended up sharing stage with Ojos de Brujo, Dusminguet, Brazuca Matraca, 08001...
Almasäla is her first solo project. Paloma, still close to her roots, in this first album called Eolh a combination with the rhythms of traditional flamenco meets melodies from other continents.
Eolh is the story of an encounter between tanguillos with an arabic flavour bulería, soleá, rumba and tangos with South American and Jamaican harmonies, palmas and cantejondos with an electronic background.
Eohl produced by Paloma in Barcelona, is also a colaberation with many artists The voices of Wagner Pá, Stéphanie (Shiva Sound) and Joan (Dusminguet) mingle with the rhythms of the Brazilian percussions of Sandro (Macaco), the cajon flamenco of Dani (Amparanoia), of Marti (Dusminguet)'s drums, and meeting the the pulse of Sebi (Macaco - Shiva Sound)'s bass, Jordi (Amparanoia)'s double bass, and Muñeco (Amparanoia)'s Tres cubano.
In concert Almasäla makes an absolute spectacle of a show, an introduction to a flamenco, that through music, vocals, and dance, travels through time and space without losing strength or its magic.
