Tryst (Scotland)

Tryst, a 10-member "band of pipers, not a pipe band," in fact an utterly stunning high quality musical spectacle, and one we are delighted to represent in all territories, Frusion has long pioneered and supported great music drawn from cultural roots and inspiring great music and in Tryst this delivers over and over, we can deliver this great band for a glorious spectacle, fitting any stage and we mean any stage and setting.

Tryst is made up of Ross Ainslie, Steven Blake, Rory Campbell, Mairearad Green, Ali Hutton, Calum MacCrimmon, Finlay MacDonald, James MacKenzie, Lorne MacDougall, and John Mulhearn - all pipers with backgrounds as composers and arrangers, most without any serious focus on competing.

Comprising ten top Highland pipers/composers, Tryst first performed at Celtic Connections 2017 in Glasgow, showcasing new music inspired by the piobaireachd tradition. With supplementary instrumentation including whistles, keyboards, guitar and accordion, as well as canntaireachd vocals, electronic beats and samples, they're carrying the bagpipe canon boldly into the future.

"Utterly compelling majesty... at once viscerally primal and stunningly sophisticated" (Scotsman)
